Chloe Bowles
Queensland, 24, Nanny
With a past working in events and currently employed as a nanny on the Gold Coast, food and cooking have never been far from Chloe’s mind when she thinks about her long-term future.
A permanent fixture at the kitchen bench beside her mum from age two, Chloe has always loved to cook and really got stuck in from the age of 10.
Moving to Brisbane aged 11, Chloe excelled at rowing during high school and was part of a state championship crew three years running. It was after school that Chloe blossomed, moving to Sydney for a year to work and embracing her independence.
Chloe moved back to Brisbane to study, completing a Diploma of Events at TAFE and a Bachelor of Business from Griffith University. She worked in event planning, but was not satisfied by it.
Meeting youth worker husband Caleb in 2011 was a turning point. The pair married in September 2013 and spent a five-week honeymoon in Europe. The trip included one of Chloe’s culinary highlights: a cooking class and unforgettable dining experience at Osteria di Passignano in Tuscany, Italy.
The chef there, Matia Barciulli, is one of Chloe’s idols in the kitchen, alongside Maggie Beer, Anna Polyviou, Christine Manfield, George Calombaris, Paul West and Jamie Oliver.
Chloe is intent on doing the things she loves in life. With a passion for throwing dinner parties and visiting markets and farms, her dream is to set up a farm bistro, celebrating local produce and agriculture. The food would be honest, simple and unexpected, bridging the gap between kitchen, garden and diner. Her vision is for an innovative menu within a relaxed, elbows-on-the-table environment.
