Olivia Robinson
New South Wales, 26, Restaurant Manager
Growing up, Olivia threw herself into every extracurricular activity, proving that she is definitely a jill-of-all-trades. From music, dance and swimming to netball, gymnastics, choirs and bands, she did it all.
A gifted musician, Olivia has played saxophone for over 10 years and also plays clarinet, a little piano, basic guitar and the ukulele. Also a keen singer, she has been a part of Vox, a branch of Sydney Philharmonia, as well as writing and performing her own songs. A talented rhythmic gymnast in her youth, these days she stays fit by indulging her love of dance, kayaking and rock climbing.
Close to her parents, Olivia has a great relationship with her three older brothers and one younger brother. The whole Robinson clan are foodies and Olivia recalls learning not only from mum and dad in the kitchen, but also from her older brothers.
Following school, Olivia spent a gap year in the UK. Being just 18 at the time and fending for herself, it was a massive learning curve.
Although she finds her current role as a restaurant manager rewarding, it is not where she sees herself long term and she is currently juggling work with study at Macquarie University to gain a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in human resources.
Olivia looks to a variety of British cooks for inspiration in the kitchen, including Hugh Fearnley-Whitingstall, Jamie Oliver, Heston Blumenthal, Yotam Ottolenghi and Marco Pierre White.
Olivia sees her food dream beyond MasterChef Australia coming to life at her own café, where people can meet with friends to enjoy great food and good music.
