Trent Harvey
New South Wales, 29, Electrician
Growing up on the family apple orchard in Batlow, New South Wales, Trent has lived and breathed the wholesome country life with mum, dad and a younger brother. With fond memories of milking cows, catching rabbits and fishing for trout, Trent’s love for fresh produce goes way back.
As a teen Trent was into music and sports, especially loving his motocross racing, getting on his first motorbike aged just three. He raced bikes from age 10, reaching state and national level.
An avid traveller, Trent often returns home with a new tattoo. He lived in Canada and the US for a couple of years, working at ski and golf resorts, also venturing to the UK, Italy and Central America, including Guatemala and Panama. In his spare time, Trent likes to snowboard, ride bikes, fish and play guitar.
After moving to Canberra as a teen to attend a larger school, Trent is now based in Queanbeyan NSW, where he lives with fiancé Kristen, his partner of more than eight years.
After completing his apprenticeship to become an electrician, Trent also found time to become a qualified builder. He and Kristen have enjoyed renovating their home, getting the kitchen just the way they want it. Most recently, Trent was working as a technician on the eastern gas pipeline.
With a mixed collection of idols including Miguel Maestre, Rick Stein, Curtis Stone, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Jamie Oliver, The Hairy Bikers and Anthony Bourdain, Trent already has his sights set on a brand new future in food.
One day he would love to have his own self-sufficient restaurant or bistro where all produce would be sourced from within 100 kilometres and the menu would change regularly.
