Australia Cup 2024: Macarthur FC Crowned Champions
The Australia Cup wrapped up on the last Sunday night of the month in spectacular fashion as Victory and Macarthur went head to head to decide who would be crowned Australia Cup 2024 Champions.
The showcase event at AAMI Park was a culmination of a memorable year of Australia Cup action which delivered plenty of 'Cupsets' along the way, including in the big match which saw the Bulls become the first away side to win the competition.
The all important goal arrived just before the hour mark from Marin Jakolis who was left with a relatively straightforward job as he tapped home Jed Drew's pass across goal which left Jack Duncan stranded in the Victory goal.
Macarthur's win now guarantees them a place in the 2025/26 AFC Champions League Two. A competition they are all too familiar with after having featured in the 2023/24 edition.
