The Australia Cup wrapped up on Sunday night in spectacular fashion as Victory and Macarthur went head to head to decide who would be crowned Australia Cup 2024 Champions.
Both sides have history in this competition with Victory having claimed the Cup in 2015 and 2021 while recently the Bulls have had reason to celebrate when they claimed top honours in 2022.
Patrick Kisnorbo's side were heavy favourites heading into the showcase event and began the match on the front foot as they looked to break down a well organised Bulls defence.
Mile Sterjovski knew that his side would be up against it as they played in front of a healthy Victory crowd that were expecting silverware come full time.
However as time wore on, Macarthur's stubborn defence coupled with the heroics of Mark Viduka Medalist Filip Kurto saw them keep their opponents scoreless.
That meant that they just had to rely on the one goal to secure their title as Champions for the second time in three years.
That all important goal arrived just before the hour mark from Marin Jakolis who was left with a relatively straightforward job as he tapped home Jed Drew's pass across goal which left Jack Duncan stranded in the Victory goal.
Macarthur's win now guarantees them a place in the 2025/26 AFC Champions League Two. A competition they are all too familiar with after having featured in the 2023/24 edition.
