Dilruk Jayasinha

Comedian

Growing up in Sri Lanka, comedian and actor Dilruk Jayashinha moved to Melbourne to attend university, and despite starting a career in accounting, the lure of the open mic was calling and in 2010 he embarked on his stage career.

One of the most in-demand headliners on the Australian comedy scene with a reputation for his positive, upbeat brand of stand-up, Dilruk has appeared at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal, the Edinburgh Festival, and continues to sell out solo shows across the country.

A regular on Network 10’s Have You Been Paying Attention? and Hughesy, We Have A Problem, Dilruk also appeared in the 2020 season of the hit show I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in the South African jungle.

Keen to showcase his strength in cooking savoury dishes, and one to watch in the MasterChef kitchen, Dilruk boasts a keen palate for flavour and heat. No doubt Dilruk will strive to proudly serve up the flavours of his heritage during the competition, while proving he’s not a one trick pony.

Winner of the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent at the 2018 TV Week Logie Awards, Dilruk is an ambassador for Mental Health Day Australia, and hopes to add the coveted Celebrity MasterChef Australia trophy to his mantelpiece at home.
