Jason Sudeikis To Return For Ted Lasso Season 4

Ted Lasso has been officially renewed for Season 4, with Jason Sudeikis confirmed to return for the titular mustachioed character.

Sudeikis joined legendary NFL brothers Jason and Travis Kelce on their New Heights podcast to announce the news.

“We’re writing season four now,” Sudeikis said on the podcast. “That’s the official word.”

No other casting has been confirmed.

“As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,” Sudeikis said in a statement.

“In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”

No other casting has been confirmed.

“Ted Lasso has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fan base all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion and unwavering belief,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+.

“Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”

Previously, Sudeikis (who plays Ted Lasso) told David Spade and Dana Carvey’s Fly on the Wall podcast that they wanted to conclude the show with season three.

“We only conceived these three [seasons], then this thing became this big old thing,” he said in a 2023 episode.

Ted Lasso co-stars Juno Temple (who plays Keely Jones) and Hannah Waddingham (who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton) have both previously said that they would not want to be part of a spin-off show.

Temple said she would be interested in a storyline where Keely approaches Rebecca about starting a Richmond women’s football club.

“I haven't thought about that, but I think that's definitely something I would find to be a great journey for Keeley and also for Rebecca, you know?” Temple says.

“And I think, also, women's football is something that is so exciting — especially in England, we've been doing so well — but I think it's something that... I don't know, who knows? It would be a great storyline.”

Waddingham also told EW that she would not want to do a spin-off show.

"It's not really something I've thought of. But if there were more to come, I'd certainly entertain the idea. I'd be crazy not to," she said in 2023.

"It's a beautifully crafted role that I've thankfully had a large hand in. I'm fully invested in her, so I would always entertain that."
