Isuzu UTE A-League Round 2 Headlines

All the talking points ahead of the second round of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season

A memorable opening weekend saw a cracking Sydney Derby play out in the feature slot on Saturday night on 10 Bold and 10 Play while Auckland FC impressed in front of over 20,000 fans in their first Isuzu UTE A-League encounter.

Coming up, the Black Knights will be looking to replicate that kind of performance against Steve Corica's former side as Sydney FC make the trip to Auckland while the two Saturday feature matches see Adelaide United host Central Coast Mariners before a Melbourne Derby takes centre stage at AAMI Park.

Bulls back at Campbelltown to meet the Jets

Macarthur FC will be looking to add to their impressive goal tally as they host Newcastle Jets on Friday with kick off set for 7:35pm AEDT live and exclusive on Paramount+.

Mile Sterjovski's side were ruthless in their first round clash as they put six goals past an undercooked Perth Glory.

Jed Drew, Jake Hollman and Marin Jakolis proved to be a nightmare for the Glory defence and will undoubtedly be difficult to contain for the visitors come this Friday.

Newcastle were unable to break down the 10-men of City with Marco Tilio's second minute goal enough to hand them the three points.

Adelaide kick off their Season against the Mariners

Adelaide have had to bide their time after being handed the bye for Round 1. They will be back at Coopers Stadium on Saturday as they welcome the Mariners at 5:05pm AEDT live and free on 10 Bold and 10 Play.

This will be Carl Veart's side first match since their Australia Cup Semi Final exit against Victory a month ago.

Their opponents on the other hand have had two matches in the space of a week and come into this meeting following a midweek ACL Elite trip to Shanghai.

Kisnorbo faces former side in the Derby

The first Melbourne Derby of the season headlines Saturday action with the spectacle set to get underway at 7:35pm AEDT live and free on 10 Bold and 10 Play.

This will be the first time Patrick Kisnorbo will come up against his former side since crossing the divide to join fierce rivals Melbourne Victory.

Victory had to settle for a share of the points in Gosford last time out and will be looking to open their account against their rivals on Saturday.

A James Jeggo brain snap threatened to derail City's first round clash however a strong willed defensive performance was enough to see them through against the Jets.

Late Night Long Distance Derby

We head west for the first time this season for the Long Distance Derby as Perth Glory host Wellington Phoenix at 9:45pm AEDT live and exclusive on Paramount+.

A shambolic performance in Campbelltown went some way to undoing Glory's promising preseason signs in the Australia Cup.

Concerns have already been raised over player fitness with the majority of David Zdrilic's players looking off the mark compared to their hosts last weekend.

A return to HBF Park may give them a much needed boost as they come up against the Phoenix whose next generation of academy players performed admirably in their first round encounter against Western United.

Corica faces off against the Sky Blues

For the first time in his career, Steve Corica will be in the opposition dugout as his Auckland FC come up against Sydney on Sunday at 2pm AEDT live and exclusive on Paramount+.

Auckland could not have asked for a better start to life in the Isuzu UTE A-League with goals either side of half time enough for them to see off Brisbane Roar in front of raucous home support.

It has been a wild week for the Sky Blues who jetted off to Hiroshima for their ACL Two clash on Wednesday night before making the trip to New Zealand's capital.

The lengthy travel may play into the hands of their hosts while Corica's extensive knowledge of his former side could prove to be another factor that swings things in his side's favour.

Western meet Wanderers in Tarneit

Western United are back at home as they welcome Wanderers to Ironbark Fields at 4pm AEDT on Sunday.

United came from behind to take a share of the points in Wellington last weekend while Wanderers left empty handed from their Derby clash as Juan Mata came off the bench for his club debut.
