University In Surat To House Cows On Campus For “Positive Vibes”

A university in Surat, India has decided to house a group of cows on the campus in a bid to spread “positive energy”.

Officials at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) in Surat have confirmed that they’re looking to house around five to seven cows on the construction site of the new administrative building.

The decision to keep the cows on campus and encourage students to look after them is thanks to the advice of an astrologer, who believes doing so will help with issues the university is facing, including low pass results of students in undergraduate courses, delays in tendering process for different works, and a myriad of other issues.

The university’s administrative building, which was built over 48 years ago, was rendered unfit for use after it developed leaks and cracks. The government has now approved a grant of Rs 30 crore for the construction of a new building at VNSGU.

In addition to architects, the university also contacted astrologer Jyotish Shashtri to help identify the best location for the new buildings.

Speaking with The Indian Express, VNSGU Vice Chancellor Dr K N Chawda said: “The Jyotish expert suggested that if five to seven cows are kept for one month at the location of the new building, and they are given special care, it will generate positive energy and help the administration run the premises smoothly. We have contacted a few NGOs and sought their help in providing a few cows, which would be kept on the varsity campus inside a temporary shed. An NGO will visit us in the next few days.”

In addition to their positive vibes, the cows will also be an integral part in workshops the university will run around students learning how to develop start-ups focused on cow-based industries.
