Elton John Reveals He Has Lost His Eyesight After ‘Severe’ Infection

At the opening-night premiere of The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical, Elton John revealed that he has lost his eyesight after a ‘severe’ eye infection.

While addressing guests at Dominion Theatre in London’s West End, the 77-year-old musician gave a devastating update on his eyesight, after revealing in early September that he had been left with “limited vision in one eye” after dealing with a “severe eye infection” over the summer.

“As some of you may know, I have had issues and now I have lost my sight. I haven’t been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed listening to it,” John told the crowd.

The "Rocket Man" singer also credited his husband, David Furnish, for being his “rock” through the ordeal.

“To my husband, who’s been my rock, because I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews because as you know, I’ve lost my eyesight, so it’s hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it,” John continued.

“And, boy, it sounded good tonight! OK! Thank you for coming!”

Elton John composed the music for the “The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical,” along with his writing partner Shaina Taub.
