Aussie Jack Doohan Set To Make Early F1 Debut

Aussie Jack Doohan looks set to make an early Formula 1 debut at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in place of Esteban Ocon, with discussions about the Frenchman's early release from Alpine.

Ocon was set to hand over his spot at Alpine to Doohan for the 2025 season, but the Aussie young gun might make his debut at next weekend's season-ender.

According to widespread reports, Ocon will depart Alpine early to join Haas for the post-season test.

Alpine boss Oliver Oakes addressed the rumours on Sunday, telling reporters that while no decision had been made, discussions were taking place.

"I don't think there's been a definitive answer yet, but it has been talked about," Oakes said. "It's obviously slightly complex because, as much as he is ours, he's obviously contractually a Mercedes junior as well, and obviously he'd like to be released early as well."

"I guess you could say it's good to get Jack in early. I think you could say from Esteban's side it's good to move on early," Oakes said.

"I think it suits everybody. So I think the discussion is quite natural, really."
