Treasurer Jim Chalmers has urged Queenslanders to fill up their bathtubs to prepare for Cyclone Alfred, which is expected to make landfall on Friday.

In the wake of ex-cyclone Alfred, QLD and NSW face life-threatening flash flooding, hundreds of thousands without power and many homes destroyed.

Those living between Bundaberg, QLD, and Northern NSW could be significantly impacted by the severe weather, which is set to hit the coastline later this week.

Tropical Cyclone Alfred's centre is expected to make landfall tomorrow morning, and Bribie Island Turtle Trackers' Diane Oxenford has been helping out some of Queensland's most vulnerable residents: baby turtles.
