Sha’nya Bennett and partner, Keon Mitchell, were en route to the hospital when they had to pull into a Krispy Kreme carpark due to heavy snowfall hitting Alabama.
Sha’nya gave birth to her son, Dallas, inside their car outside of the Dothan Krispy Kreme store, which was closed at the time, due to the weather.
After the store’s manager found out about the couple’s less-than-ideal birth experience, he wanted to offer up a sweet gift to the new parents.
Not only did he offer to host baby Dallas’ first birthday in 2026, he also promised the family free doughnuts for a whole year.
“Krispy Kreme is sweetening the family’s a-glaze-ing celebration by throwing Dallas a birthday party every year until he’s all grown up! ” a spokesperson for the company said in a statement to People on Saturday.
Speaking with WTVY, Bennett said they were only a mile away from the hospital when she realised she wasn’t going to make it.
“I felt the baby’s head at the red light. So once we got into the Krispy Kreme parking lot, I couldn’t stop pushing then I saw him sliding out, and I’m like, ‘Come grab him, come grab him!'” she recalled.
Baby Dallas was born before the paramedics arrived at the parking lot.
“It is an experience to remember, it definitely is,” she said.
