During the Black Summer fires, more than one thousand people from North America helped out, bringing with them vital resources.
But as fire seasons merge, there are doubts over whether we could share resources with the US in future.
Craig Lapsley is an expert in emergency fire management in Australia and he told The Project that “more frequent and more intense fires will occur and they are going to be out of season” as a result of climate change.
“We need to accept that as Australia, these things will challenge us”, Lapsley said.
