Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz won the Mexico City Grand Prix on Sunday, and McLaren's Lando Norris closed the gap on Max Verstappen after another furious battle that cost the reigning three-time series champion three penalties and shaved 10 points off Verstappen's lead.
Second-placed Norris' Australian teammate Oscar Piastri drove from 17th on the grid to eighth place.
But, with Sainz's teammate Leclerc finishing third, Ferrari closed the gap on constructors' championship leaders McLaren to 29 points as they overtook Red Bull to be second in the standings.
