Dog Who Waited For Months Outside 7-Eleven For Deceased Owner Adopted By Princess

A dog named Moo Daeng, who reportedly waited outside his usual spot outside a 7-Eleven for months after his owner died, has been adopted by Princess Siribha of Thailand.

Moo Daeng, which means ‘red pig’ in Thai, went viral online after people learnt of his enduring loyalty to his former owner, who died in November 2024.

A local photographer had been updating the internet on the welfare of the dog, on the Facebook page called Mari-Mo Photography, prompting local residents to band together and provide the pooch with food, water and healthcare.

The posts eventually caught the eye of Thai princess and animal welfare activist Siribha Chudabhorn.

Princess Siribha is the niece of the current king of Thailand, Maha Vajiralongkorn.

Princess Siribha took to social media to give an update about Moo Daeng, writing: “All my dogs have experienced trauma, whether through abuse, abandonment or injury. But in Moo Daeng’s case, it’s severe depression.

“I want to make everyone realise that this mental health condition, if not understood, can cause irreparable damage to Moo Daeng, both mentally and physically.

“While humans are able to hide their pain and appear normal on the outside, dogs are pure. They show exactly how they feel,” the translation read.

Moo Daeng now lives at the Princess’s residence in Chiang Mai.
