It has been reported that the hotel in Las Vegas was facing check in problems, leaving some guests waiting hours for their rooms.
After going out and possibly having one too many drinks, the NRL players returned and found that one of them was left without a room.
We are unsure of whether Young or Smithies was left searching for a bunk for the night, however it appears that whoever was left roomless asked their teammate to share for the night.
The pair was making their way down to the concierge to discuss the matter when the brawl broke out in the elevator between them.
There were reportedly punches thrown.
Hotel staff thought they witnessed a weapon being pulled out and promptly escorted the pair off the premises, only to later find out that this was an inflatable baseball bat.
Whilst Young and Smithies have had discussions with the club and the press apologising for their actions, it is unclear whether they will face any sanctions.
It has been suggested that they won’t face any suspensions but rather a fine of around $10,000 each.
Both team members are still set to take to the field for this weekend's match against the New Zealand Warriors.
