Peter Dutton Ahead In Polls But Claims He Is The Underdog

Peter Dutton has claimed he will be the underdog in this year's Federal Election, even though polls show that the opposition leader has a 10% lead over Labor on a two-party basis.

Polling is showing that 55 per cent of Australians surveyed would prefer the Coalition on a two-party basis, while 45 per back Labor.

Dutton claims that the Coalition “remain[s] the underdog in this election because a first-term opposition hasn’t won since 1931”.

He also said that polling stats would “come and go”, and that the poll that mattered was election day.
