The exhibit first launched in France in 2022, opening its doors to 23,000 visitors in its opening week alone.
Now the iconic wardrobe installations, designed by Vivienne Westwood, Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Christian Dior, are coming to The District Docklands. The website states that The Nanny Exhibit, curated by Chris Brempel, Clara Haseloff, and Marina Sacco, was created to “bring back the happiness and the joy that this show and the costumes have brought to the people around the world.”
It will feature an exclusive collection of over 100 original designer costumes from the sitcom, as well as fabulous replica sets that fans can interact with. The Nanny followed Fran Fine (played by Fran Drescher), a charming woman from Flushing, Queens who becomes the nanny to the children of wealthy widower Max Sheffield. It ran for six seasons spanning from 1993-1999 and remains a popular sitcom to this day. Emmy award-winning costume designer Brenda Cooper is to thank for Fran Fine’s signature standout styles, and she will be known as “the flashy girl from Flushing” for decades to come.
