Port Stephens Takes The Crown For The 2025 Aussie Town Of The Year

The 2025 Aussie Town of the Year awards have just been announced by the Australian travel app Wotif to help Aussies know where to plan their next getaway.

Their research has also determined that 78% of Australians plan to travel domestically this year.

If you are among the majority looking for a local holiday, the Aussie Town of the Year awards might inspire you.

Located just out of Newcastle and about 2 ½ hours north of Sydney, Port Stephens has won the top spot for 2025 after being celebrated for its “endless beaches, parks, wildlife and sand dunes.”

Wotif’s travel expert, Rebecca Hurley, has said that the destination is a “laid-back luxury meets nature haven” and that “whether it’s a relaxing beach escape or an adventure-packed getaway, Port Stephens has something for everyone.”

Despite winning the best ‘town’ award, the region comprises quite a few towns and suburbs, including Corlette, just west of Nelson Bay, Soldiers Point and Shoal Bay.

Rebecca Hurley stated that, “The region’s popularity has risen significantly in the last twelve months, with accommodation interest jumping up over 75 per cent.”
