The 23-year-old had just flown in from Wroclaw in Poland when police officers swarmed her on Wednesday night.
Julia's representative, Surjit Singh Clair, confirmed that she is in custody.
Speaking with MailOnline, Clair said: "I'm trying to find out what's happened, but it appears Julia was arrested at Bristol Airport this evening just after she got off the plane.
"The police have reportedly arrested her on an allegation of stalking and harassing the McCanns.'
Wandelt gained international attention in February 2023 when she claimed to be Madeleine McCann, the three-year-old who went missing on a family holiday to Portugal in 2007.
Wandelt appeared on the US TV show Dr. Phil, where DNA test results confirmed that she was not Madeline and was 100 per cent Polish.
However, she has continued to push the narrative that she is Madeleine McCann.
Posting to her new social media account @amijuliawandelt, she shared the results of a new DNA test that Kate and Gerry McCann "refused" to participate in.
The results claim that Wandelt is, in fact, part British and part Irish.
The Polish national said she first started suspecting she was Madeleine McCann after seeing resemblances between sketches of suspects and her abuser.
Wandelt said she had little to no memories from her childhood, causing her to question her identity.
She has also said she has post-traumatic amnesia after she was sexually abused as a child.
Wandelt's parents have denied her claims, providing childhood photographs and her birth certificate as proof that her allegations are false.
