Pennsylvania Flood Museum Temporarily Closed… Due To Flooding

A museum dedicated to remembering a 19th-century flood in Pennsylvania has had to temporarily close due to flooding.

Museum officials at The Johnstown Flood Museum in downtown Johnstown have said that they’ve had to close indefinitely, after a valve failure flooded the third floor of the building.

In a Facebook post, Heritage Johnstown explained that an "interior water leak caused by the recent extreme cold” was to blame.

"We are very fortunate that a volunteer docent, Nicky Bosley, came into work in the archives on the day that the museum was closed during our winter operating schedule and discovered there was a problem," officials have said.

"She sounded the alarm and allowed us to get in here and keep it from being much, much worse."

Thanks to Bosley, museum workers were able to save important artifacts and archives, with the damage primarily involving flooring and drywall.

While the museum is currently closed for repairs, officials have said that they’re working with the insurance company to reopen the building as soon as possible.
