Taking to Mumsnet, the mum asked others what their work-from-home schedules really looked like.
“Be honest… what do you really do if working from home?” she wrote.
“I often have a bath at lunchtime. Go to shops. Clean. Last Friday, I watched a Christmas film in the background in bed while doing some online training. Made a pie,” she posted.
The woman’s post was met with much disdain, with many stating she should not be doing personal things on company time.
“Working from home means you should be… working (from home),” one user criticised. “What you’re describing is skiving from home.”
However, the woman pointed out that sometimes she stays back late and works weekends, so it all balances out.
Others believed that she should be milking the flexibility working from home allows for.
“Depending on the type of meeting I am in, I occasionally fold laundry. We have whole-company calls that need to be listened to, but I can fold laundry while I listen!” one person wrote.
Another said that they “work harder than at the office” and that they also do laundry and go for runs during the workday.
“I found that if I knuckled down, I could get the bulk of my work done in a much shorter time than if I was in the office,” another said. “No distractions or people wanting to talk to you.”
Others said that they are fortunate enough to have “cool” bosses who don’t mind their workers getting some personal jobs done during the work day.
“We can go to the hairdressers or the gym, etc in work time,” one wrote. “We just need to get our work done.”
