Melbourne Dad-To-Be’s Car Impounded After Gender Reveal Burnout

A 29-year-old dad-to-be has had his car impounded after he allegedly performed a gender reveal burnout.

Police were called to the gender reveal party in Carrum Downs in Melbourne’s south-east following reports of someone performing burnouts, with blue smoke coming from the tyres.

The local officers impounded the man’s Holden Commodore, which will set the driver back $1120.50.

Somerville Highway Patrol Officer Phillip Hulley said that CCTV footage was given to them by fed-up neighbours.

“It’s rather gobsmacking, really, and very fortunate members of the public called it through,” Hulley told 3AW Breakfast.

“We’ve obviously got an ongoing investigation because there may be other people involved and engaging in similar behaviour prior to the blue smoke going up in the air.

“It’s like something with the Pope, really, isn’t it? The blue smoke coming up.”

“You can see people, young children, at this event, and one would think this car would only have to spin out of control and could have the potential of seriously injuring or killing people,” he said.

“Not a great start for a young man about to have a child.”

Hulley added footage of the incident would not be released as it is part of an ongoing investigation expected to appear before the court.

The man from Frankston North is expected to be charged on summons with traffic offences.
