One of China's Mcdonalds fast-food chains is encouraging a balanced lifestyle by providing customers with exercise bikes so they can break a sweat while eating their Big Macs.
Customers at McDonald's can be seen attempting to burn calories while eating them in a viral TikTok video.
This tweet is unavailable or no longer exists.
The video focuses in on the woman in the forefront who attempts to cycle while eating a burger and drinking what appears to be a Coca-Cola.
The word attempt is used because it’s almost like her legs stop every time she takes a bite. Perhaps it is more difficult than it looks, like trying to pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time.
Perhaps that’s the real reason pro cyclists opt for a gel version of food? They would prefer solids but it’s just too hard to keep those legs rotating while chomping down on a McChicken.
The video only shows bike riding, although there is enough floor space if someone wanted to get down and add some McRib exercises to their workout.
The Internet has been quick to question the restaurant's feeble attempts, highlighting just how much cycling would need to be done to cancel out a Mcdonalds burger.
A Big Mac meal contains 1,080 calories, which means people would have to cycle between 21 and 44 kilometres on their bikes to burn off the calories in the meal.
Does this mean it’s not a good idea? I can see the value in the bikes. Imagine looking down at the last 3 fries, being already sickly full, and wondering whether you should eat them. Moments later you see the bike and there’s your answer.
Time to hit the bike for a quick 15-minute cycle and it’s like those fries never even existed in your body…to be clear it’s just the 3 fries you’ll be burning off, the rest stays.
