Macaulay Culkin Considered Purchasing Iconic Home Alone House

Macaulay Culkin considered buying the iconic McCallister house from Home Alone when it went on the market in May for $AU 7.85 million.

Talking to the New York Times, the 44-year-old actor said: “I had half a mind to buy it — just for giggles.”

The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home located in Winnetka, Illinois, was put on the market for the first time in 12 years and sold just one week after its listing.

The stunning brick home, built in 1921, has a sunroom, a sports court in the basement, a gym, and a state-of-the-art movie theatre.

Culkin, who played the mischievous Kevin McCallister in the festive movie franchise, said that he would turn the property into a “movie fun house” where people could ride a bobsled down the stairs like his character did in the movie.

However, he did not buy the house, citing: “I got kids. I’m busy, man.”

Culkin shares two sons with his fiancée, fellow child star Brenda Song. They have a 3-year-old Dakota and a 2-year-old whose name has not been revealed.

Culkin is touring with his ‘A Nostalgic Night With Macaulay Culkin’, where he is celebrating the film franchise that shot him to fame.

During his show in Rosemont, he said that his perspective on the movie has changed now that he is a father.

“I look at the movie differently now because of that,” he explained. “I watch it through a different lens — I watch it with them. And they have no idea who they’re sitting next to.”
