KFC To Relocate Its Headquarters From Kentucky To Texas

Fast food giant KFC is moving its US headquarters from Kentucky to Texas and people aren’t too happy about the move.

On Tuesday, the chain’s parent company, Yum! Brands announced to its investors that it would be moving 100 employees from its office in Louisville, Kentucky, to the city of Plano in Texas.

The move likely results from Texas’ low taxation, solid economic growth, and business-friendly policies.

Yum! Brands has also said the move is a “strategic decision” that would allow it to “foster greater collaboration among brands and employees”.

In a statement, the governor of Kentucky, Andy Beshear, expressed dismay at the decision.

“I am disappointed by this decision and believe the company’s founder would be, too,” Beshear said.

“This company’s name starts with Kentucky, and it has marketed our state’s heritage and culture in the sale of its product.”

The mayor of Louisville, Craig Greenberg, seconded Beshear’s notion, saying the brand “was born here and is synonymous with Kentucky”.

Yum! Brands has said the KFC Foundation would retain corporate offices in Louisville, Kentucky.
