James Blunt To Change Name To ‘Blunty McBluntface’ If Album Reaches Number 1

James Blunt promised fans that he would change his name if his re-release of ‘Back to Bedlam’ reached number one on the charts, and his fans came through with the name ‘Blunty McBluntface.’

Blunt celebrated the 20th anniversary of his debut studio album ‘Back to Bedlam.’

The 50-year-old singer promised to change his name to whatever his fans wanted if the re-release reached number one.

Blunt took to his social media to share that his fans have chosen his new name: Blunty McBluntface.

With a big sigh, he announced the name before commenting, “People have no imagination.”

The name is a nod to the viral ‘Boaty McBoatface’ saga of 2016.

The British public was asked to name a new research vessel, and ‘Boaty McBoatface’ was the overwhelming favourite, much to the dismay of many.

The boat was then renamed to the much more sophisticated RRS Sir David Attenborough.

However, a smaller research submersible was named the public favourite, Boaty McBoatface.

Blunt announced his vow in the lead-up to the re-release of the album.

“I know you’ve heard the rumours, and they are true. I’m re-releasing my debut album, Back To Bedlam, on October 11. Something that has kept me consistently rich for the past 20 years,” he said in a video to social media.

“So as a way to give back to you, my adoring public, if Back To Bedlam re-enters the charts at number one, I will legally change my name. What will I change it to? Well, it’s entirely up to you.”

The lead single from the album, “You’re Beautiful”, was once voted as one of the most annoying songs to be released, and Blunt shared some of the names he’s already been called, including “the Most Hated Man in Pop”, “Annoying” and “James Beige”.

“I’ll let the people decide. But if it doesn’t go to number one, I’m not changing my name,” he said.

“My name is James Blunt, and you have the power to absolutely f**k my life.”
