James Blunt Regrets Letting Fans Rename Him ‘Blunty McBluntface’ If Album Hits No. 1

James Blunt says he feels “stupid” for allowing fans to rename him ‘Blunty McBluntface’ if his album, Back To Bedlam, hits No.1.

The album was first released in 2004, and to celebrate its 20th anniversary, Blunt re-released the album and told fans he would change his name if the album topped the charts for a second time.

Blunt fans settled on the name ‘Blunt McBluntface’, and now the singer-songwriter is having some regrets.

Speaking with ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the 50-year-old said, "The people I pity more are my family.”

"I feel it was stupid of me, really, to offer to change my name if you got to No.1 because of the consequences.

"I feel though that the British public, they will have to live with the shame of ... going out and buying and owning a James Blunt CD, (it) might be a deterrent enough."

Blunt is now praying that the album comes in at No.2 on the charts.

"I explained to my wife she would be Sofia McBluntface, and she's seized on the opportunity to say she would change her name back to her maiden name (Wellesley)," he added.
