Hogwarts Legacy Is Getting A Sequel

According to a report from Variety, Hogwarts Legacy 2 is already in the works and will tie in storylines from the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series.

Hogwarts Legacy was the best-selling game of 2023, selling a whopping 30 million copies.

Now WB has given an update on Hogwarts Legacy 2, saying that they plan to link “big picture storytelling elements” in Hogwarts Legacy 2 “with the storylines that will play out in the Harry Potter HBO series.”

The Harry Potter show will cover the seven books in the series, implying that Hogwarts Legacy may be moving to a “present-day” Harry Potter timeline.

However, Hogwarts Legacy is set around a century before the events of the movie and book series, in 1890.

The Fantastic Beasts movie series is set between 1926 and 1945. Harry Potter was between 1991 and 1998. So that’s a hundred-year leap, at least.

With production for Hogwarts Legacy 2 in its early stages, it’s unclear how the video game and TV show will manage to work together.

David Haddad, president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, told Variety, “The rest of the company was very curious about what we helped to unlock with ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ last year.”

Hogwarts Legacy first launched across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5 in February 2023 before being ported to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
