Drug Bust Shows Sydney Is Hooked On Cocaine

This week, 120 kg of cocaine was seized during a raid in Sydney’s southwest, and it’s not the only raid this year, with an estimated $1.8 billion of the drug already seized.

The massive raid only served to show just how widespread cocaine use has become.

Rack, blow, Charlie, nose beers or just plain coke… call cocaine, whatever you like… NSW now consumes almost as much cocaine as the rest of the country combined.

The drug is often imported for as little as 60 thousand dollars per kilogram… the price is then jacked up to as much as 250 grand by criminal syndicates.

By the time it’s cut and diluted with other substances to be sold in bags as small as 0.2 grams… each kilogram of cocaine can be worth a million dollars.

So, as cocaine culture runs rampant through Sydney’s party scene, will smashing an industry kingpin make a difference - or is it simply too late?
