David Walliams Reveals Plans To Bring Back Little Britain

David Walliams has revealed that he and comedy partner Matt Lucas plan to bring the controversial show Little Britain back to screens.

Walliams spoke to Ryan Turbdy on Virgin Radio UK, revealing that he and Lucas had spoken about bringing the show back.

Little Britain was a sketch series that ran from 2003 to 2006. It had initially begun as a radio in 2000.

"I saw him today. We just had a meeting with Netflix, which is very exciting… We've got a few ideas that we're developing, and it's exciting, so we want to do something on stage.

"We want to do something as a podcast. We've just started working on it, and we obviously want to do something on TV."

"Offence and shock can actually be quite exciting. The comedy I grew up with, whether it's Mel Brooks or Monty Python... I love being shocked," Walliams said.

"I mean, offence is a bit of a different thing, isn't it? And as a white, middle-aged man, things don't offend you in the same way as they might if you were a member of a minority group.

"But at the same time, I think comedy has got to be playful," he added.

"And the thing is if you're worried every time you make a joke… You have half a second to decide the thing you're going to say, you should say or not."

Walliams also shared that his son has recently gotten into his comedies.

"I didn't show him anything because I thought, 'Right. Okay. You need to sit down and watch Daddy's stuff. I didn't want to do that, but obviously he's now of school age, and they're all talking about it and sharing it, and he's into it.

"But it's interesting how that generation and sort of teenagers are actually getting into things like Little Britain and Come Fly with Me, lots of sketch comedy because they can share it as clips. And it suits that.

"People are doing great work now, but very few people are doing sketch shows. Very few people are doing characters.

"There's lots of comedy dramas which are fantastic. Some sitcoms, but there's nothing like that. And it's also great that it's, you know, still making people laugh."
