A haute couture cousin to McQueen’s “Hoof Boot in Brown,” which is decked out in genuine calf hair, the “Hoof Boot in Black” comes complete with a silk faux ponytail.
The animalistic footwear debuted at designer Sean McGirr’s fall 2024 collection for McQueen in Paris earlier this year.
While the immaculate craftsmanship of the shoe is not lost on fans of the avant-garde, for everyday internet-users, the half-shoe, half-hoof is just too much to handle.
“What in the Shrek and Donkey is going on here Alexander McQueen,” questioned a TikTok content creator, who likened the designer duds to the beloved ogre and his sidekick.
“For $2,800 you can be a noble steed, too, honey,” she joked while zooming in on a pair of leather boots. “I cannot.”
“That stallion right there, that is giving us fall-winter.”
“I guess if you wanna dress like the goat dude in the lion, the witch and the wardrobe,” one user commented.
“I need those to mop the floors as I walk the catwalk,” another said.
However, speaking on the ponytailed shoe to Vogue, model Achieng Agutu said, “Yeah, I’d wear this to the grocery store, to the club, my friend’s son’s bar mitzvah — truly everywhere.”
“A girl with a ponytail is a girl who knows…what she wants.”
