Though perhaps a world away from the classrooms of her past life as high school History, Social Sciences and English teacher, for Katherine Sabbath the Dessert Masters kitchen represents the same blank canvas: a space for learning, growth and creativity.  

 Always a lover of being in the kitchen, Katherine was taught to bake by her German grandmother, Liselotte, and has many fond childhood memories of sharing classic dishes like black forest cake and Linzer torte. 

 With over 20 years of cake making experience, during her time as a teacher Katherine would often share images of her hobby bakes online. Combining her colourful creations, bubbly personality and unique sense of style, her “cake-spiration” images were a hit and a huge fan base quickly grew.   

 In 2015, Katherine took the leap of faith to take her side-hustle full time and create cakes for a living. Since then, the only way has been up, releasing her first best-selling cookbook in 2017, Katherine Sabbath Greatest Hits: The Pop Edition, before following these up with Bake Australia Great (2019), and Bake My Day (2022).  

 In 2018, Katherine appeared as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia, setting a 12-layered Sweet Week pressure test challenge, where contestants recreated her iconic Birthday Cake. She has also appeared on Playschool Art Time, providing another career highlight.  

 In 2019 she became the new owner of Creative Cake Decorating, which specialises in premium, Australian made food colourings. Katherine works there part time, while juggling both her cake designs and online content creation. Her passion for fashion and a whole lot of fun sees Katherine collaborate with many brands, bringing a childlike sense of wonder to all she touches.  

 As mum to two-year-old daughter Zemirah (Zee), Katherine has a full cheer squad at home to support her throughout her Dessert Masters journey, with partner Troy, pup Pluto and rescue jungle python, Bort.  

 Katherine stands ready to challenge herself against some of pastry’s biggest names in a Dessert Masters showdown, backing her cutting-edge cake designs to make her stand out with a flourish and flare that is all her own.
