NWS Spirit FC vs Melbourne Victory

The feature fixture took us to Christie Park in Sydney with Spirit facing off against Melbourne Victory.

Any hopes of a cupset taking place were quickly swept aside with Patrick Kisnorbo naming an experienced line up which had the edge over their hosts.

Ryan Teague got the scoring underway just before the half hour mark while Nishan Velupillay helped himself to a brace.

Moreton City Excelsior FC vs Perth Glory

Perth Glory made the trip to Perry Park with Moreton City Excelsior standing in their way of a Quarter Final berth.

The newly formed NPL outfit had the worst possible start with Glory going ahead in the opening three minutes.

However a flurry of goals saw the score locked at two a piece as they headed into half time while Perth were down to 10 following Adam Bugarija's dismissal.

Excelsior made the extra man advantage count with Joseph Scott's header sending the home fans into raptures as they knocked off their A-League opposition.

They can now look forward to hosting another A-League club with Victory set to make the trip up north for their Quarter Finals showdown.

Oakleigh Cannons vs Heidelberg United FC

The Wednesday night action continued at the Home of the Matildas with two Victorian heavyweights going head to head as Oakleigh Cannons came up against Heidelberg.

These two sides were no stranger to one another with a hostile atmosphere adding to the spectacle which ended in a 1-1 stalemate at the end of regulation time.

Neither side were able to break ahead in extra time which meant that penalties were needed to decide who would progress to the Quarter Finals to face Macarthur.
