Jane’s Addiction Frontman’s Wife Reveals Reason Behind Onstage Spat

The wife of Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell has revealed the reason behind the onstage spat with guitarist Dave Navarro.

Farrell reportedly threw hands at Navarro in the middle of their live performance in Boston as part of their long-awaited reunion tour.

Farrell was in the middle of performing their song ‘Ocean Size’ when he began screaming into the microphone and yelling “f—k you!” at the audience at Leader Bank Pavilion.

Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell, told her Instagram followers that “there had been a lot of tension and animosity between the members” of the band.

Farrell added that the 65-year-old singer was frustrated the band was so much louder than his vocals, and he was left “screaming just to be heard”.

“Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band,” Etty Lau posted.

“Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was playing too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it.”

The event's video circling the internet shows the agitated frontman screaming and turning to Navarro, before throwing his shoulder into the guitarist.

Next, the singer then appears to throw several punches at Navarro before three men surround and grab Farrell, escorting the furious frontman offstage.

The remaining band members, Dave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins, then went to the front of the stage and gave a warm farewell to a very confused crowd.

The band, minus Farrell, raised their hands above their heads, tapped their chests and gave peace signs as the audience gave them a standing ovation.

The band later issued an apology to fans on their Instagram account.

“We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night,” the statement reads.

“As a result, we will be cancelling tomorrow night’s show in Bridgeport. Refunds will be issued at your point of purchase – or if you purchased via a third-party reseller (StubHub, SeatGeek, etc.), reach out to them instantly. Thank you.”
