The ’80s – known for its shoulder pads, perms and spandex – just got even sexier, with Ryan Gosling reprising the role of Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a bounty hunter in the movie, The Fall Guy, based on the hit 80’s TV series.
Gosling, most famous for his role as Noah in ‘The Notebook’ and giving people unrealistic romantic expectations, with lines like “if you’re a bird, then I’m a bir”’, has recently been filming opposite Australia’s own Margot Robbie in the movie ‘Barbie’, and currently has two other films in pre-production: Wolfman and The Actor.
“We are pleased to welcome The Fall Guy down under with $30 million in support from our highly successful Location Incentive, with the production to employ over 1000 Australian cast and crew, and more than 3015 Australian extras,” Communications Minister Paul Fletcher said.
Never has the incentive to become an extra been so appealing.
Australia has seen an increase in big-budget films shooting here during the pandemic, with Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder and George Miller’s fantasy romance Three Thousand Years of Longing all shooting in Sydney, with Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa to follow.
Celebrities and movie studios are no strangers to our shore these days, and NSW Minister for the Arts Ben Franklin said NSW knows why.
“From its sandy coastlines to its vast outback and vibrant cities, Sydney and New South Wales has everything a filmmaker needs to transport the audience to another world,” Mr Franklin said.
We can see the pictures and headlines already: Ryan and Eva Enjoy the Sydney Harbour with Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness, Surfs Up: Gosling Catches Waves with the Hemsworth, and Gosling Attends Rabbitoh’s Match with Russell Crowe.
Neither director nor the start date for the movie has been announced.
