The 31-year-old rose to fame when she was cast as the loveable Aimee Gibbs on the Netflix dramedy series Sex Education.
After the show’s release in 2019, Wood confessed in an interview with Stylist that she never imagined being cast in a Netflix show because of her unique teeth.
When Sex Education came along, she thought: “Well, what have I seen on Netflix? Everyone has perfect Hollywood teeth,”
“I had it in my brain that I’m not conventional-looking enough and that’s a mental barrier I’ve had to overcome,” she continued.
Wood’s teeth have continued to be a talking point in her latest role in Mike White’s dark comedy series White Lotus, but the actress has taken it in her stride.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Wood explained, “the way [White Lotus fans] are talking about me and my teeth—that I don’t have veneers or Botox—it feels a bit rebellious.”
“I spent a lot of my life worrying about being weird, and now I’m realizing it could be my superpower.”
