Ratatouille 2 Could Be on the Menu as Pixar Shifts Its Strategy

A sequel to Ratatouille might finally be cooking.

Released in 2007, the original Pixar film, written and directed by Brad Bird, followed Remy (voiced by Patton Oswalt), a rat with dreams of becoming a chef in Paris. Now, a follow-up could be in the works, according to film insider Jeff Sneider.

On a recent episode of The Hot Mic, Sneider said he's confident a sequel will happen. “I heard it, like, a while back. It was denied. I was like, ‘I don’t know.’ I don’t know if I’m buying that denial,” he said. “I’m pretty sure that there will be a sequel... Ratatouille screams sequel.”

He pointed to Pixar’s latest box office struggles, including the underperformance of Elio, and the studio's current sequel-heavy slate. “They’re already doing Toy Story 5. So it’s like, where are we going from here? Another Cars movie? Like, no. Ratatouille 2 is on the menu, trust me.”

While Pixar hasn’t confirmed Ratatouille 2, Sneider’s claim aligns with recent comments from Pixar chief Pete Docter, who revealed the studio plans to alternate between original films and sequels going forward.

A number of sequels are already in development, including Toy Story 5, set for release on June 19, 2026, as well as Coco 2 and The Incredibles 3. Upcoming original titles include Hoppers, arriving March 6, 2026, and Gatto, set for June 18, 2027.

Until there’s official word, fans can revisit the original Ratatouille now streaming on Disney+.
