Despite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claiming Israel had brought Iran’s nuclear program “to ruin,” a preliminary US intelligence assessment found recent US air strikes had only set the program back by a few months, according to two sources familiar with the report.

The Defence Intelligence Agency’s findings also contradicted Trump’s assertion that the program had been “completely and fully obliterated.” The White House dismissed the report as “flat-out wrong.”

After the ceasefire was due to take effect, Israel accused Iran of firing missiles into its airspace. In response, Israel struck a radar site near Tehran, prompting a strong rebuke from Trump, who had warned against further escalation.

Trump said he told Israel to "calm down now" and claimed Netanyahu called off additional strikes at his request, in order to preserve the deal ending a 12-day air war.

Netanyahu’s office confirmed the strike near Tehran was retaliation for missiles allegedly launched by Iran three-and-a-half hours after the truce was meant to begin.

Iran denied firing any missiles and accused Israel of continuing attacks for more than an hour after the agreed start of the ceasefire.
