Café Owner Speaks Out Over Vegemite Ban In Canada

Aussie Leighton Walters has been told by Canadian authorities to destroy his $9,000 worth of Vegemite due to the product's added vitamins.

You may have seen the story we brought you last night of the Aussie banned from selling Vegemite in his cafe in Canada.

Health authorities yanked it off the shelves because it was found to have added vitamins.

The move means Leighton Walters will be $9,000 out of pocket, but he's determined to fight back.

The mighty Aussie battler himself, Leighton Walters, revealed to The Project whether he's heard from the High Commission.  “Yeah, I have,” he said. “I got a random call from the High Ambassador of Australia in Ottawa yesterday. It's been overwhelming the support from Australia. The fight continues.” When asked how un-Australian this act is, Leighton said it goes beyond that.

“This is so un-Australian, it's not funny. Frankly, as a dual citizen, as a Canadian citizen as well, it's un-Canadian to be so exclusive and reject so much amazing cultural influence from Australia and a friend nation.”
