Bride Devastated After Over 20 Guests Bail On Her Monday Wedding

A bride has been left devastated after more than 20 guests dropped out of attending her Monday wedding just weeks before the big day.

The bride took to Reddit to share her story, saying she and her fiance are due to be wed in mid-October but are now faced with a dwindling guest list.

"I've been planning this wedding for over a year and I've over invited guests for the sole purpose of dropouts," she wrote. "I knew there would be people who probably will last minute not be able to come."

The bride went on to say she works a minimum wage job, and the couple are very conscious of every dollar spent, planning the wedding to be as budget-friendly as possible.

"It started about a week ago when I started getting dropouts. People forgetting about the wedding, thinking it was the wrong day, etc. but they only would tell us this if we called for reminders," the bride wrote.

"It was already a smaller wedding with about 80 people to be attending including me and my fiance. We are down to low 60s at this point.

"I know I had to be prepared for dropouts, but at this point, over 20 people has given me so much anxiety, destroyed my seating charts and cost my mom so much extra money," she said, adding that she was thinking of people she could invite last minute who would be available on a Monday, but "at this point, we are screwed."

Commenters sympathised with the bride's predicament and weighed in on having a weekday wedding.

"Having it on a Monday may be hard for some people. They thought they'd be able to take the day off, but then reality set in," wrote one person, while another said, "I'm not sure what the wedding being on a Monday has to do with people cancelling…people will be flaky any day of the week."
