The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has revealed that the upcoming federal election will have the most complete electoral for any Australian federal election ever.
Around 18 million people are enrolled, which is roughly 98% of all eligible Australians, which is the highest ever.
When is the 2025 Australian federal election?
Saturday, 3 May.
How do I enrol to vote? You can enrol to vote online on the AEC website: click here. To enrol, you will need to meet the eligibility basics: You are an Australian citizen aged 18 years and over and have lived at your address for at least one month.
You will also need to provide one of the following: Your Australian driver's license number, Australian passport number, Medicare card details, Australian citizenship number and someone who is currently enrolled to confirm your identity.
Proof of Age or 18+ cards are not accepted.

What do I do if I’m unable to vote on election day?
You can apply for a postal vote or vote at a pre-poll booth. Early voting centres will be open from Tuesday, 22 April. Postal voting application must be submitted by 6pm on Wednesday, 30 April. Votes must be completed on or before election day, and postal votes must be received by the AEC no more than 13 days after polling day to be valid.
What do I do if I’m overseas? If you are going overseas for a holiday and plan to return to your Australian address, you can still enrol to vote.
