19-Year-Old Charged With Starting New Jersey Wildfire | 10 News First
NC | News

A teenager has been charged with arson after a wildfire prompted thousands of evacuations and scorched more than 15,000 acres of land in New Jersey’s Ocean County. Prosecutors allege the 19-year-old lit a bonfire made of wooden pallets and left them without fully extinguishing the blaze. The Jones Road Wildfire erupted on Tuesday in Waretown and has continued to spread throughout the area. Officials said the blaze is 50 per cent contained but could become the largest in the state since a May 2007 fire that consumed 17,000 acres.
