Amy Tanner

26, Medical Administrator, VIC

Growing up watching MasterChef with her mum, this competition holds a special place in Amy Tanner’s heart. For many years she has been inspired by the show’s home cooks and attempted to recreate many of their recipes. Now it’s Amy’s turn to learn, grow and inspire others as she dons her MasterChef apron.

Always curious about food, Amy knows that the competition will provide a steep learning curve and hopes to build her food knowledge and improve her skills in the sweet domain.

From a close-knit family of her mum, dad and brother, Amy will try anything once. She describes herself and her brother as food nerds, and the pair share a passion for discovering new and interesting places to eat and ingredients to cook with.

Having worked in medical administration for the past six years, Amy has been lucky to explore her passion for food in her spare time, working in content creation for food brands and having hosted a pop-up dining experience.

Inspired by many cooking shows over the years, Amy looks to Jamie Oliver, Paul West and English chefs Hasan Semay, Thomas Straker and Julius Roberts amongst her cooking idols. She is also a big fan of MasterChef Australia Season 13 runner up, Pete Campbell.

Backing herself to create delicious dishes from minimal ingredients, Amy’s love of travel also provides her with ideas in the kitchen. She’s eager to showcase flavours from her recent travels to Turkey and Vietnam, and to also showcase the humble anchovy.

A self-confessed anchovy fiend, this love has influenced Amy’s food dream and she has a tin fish wine bar in her sights, as well as sustainably made tinned fish products.
