'A Deliberate Decision': Indy Saleh Voted Out Of Australian Survivor

On Monday night the Brains tribe arrived at their first Tribal Council where alliances were unearthed and relationships challenged.

Still settling into their new dynamic, the Brains tribe quickly formed some tight alliances -- though some tighter than others as many of the women quietly agreed to work together under the banner of 'the Coven'.

Indy, however, was left out of a lot of these early discussions when it came to the forming of the Coven, and the business development manager and stand-up comedian watched on as Logan, Laura, Karin, Ally, and Zara began to strategies.

"I wasn't included in [the Coven], but we were in day one and those conversations happen all the time so I thought, great! Things never stay the same, so I just let it go," Indy told 10 Play.

Approaching the other women a few days later, Indy was brought into a plan to blindside Rich. But she was vocal about feeling like she was simply a number to the other women, and didn't feel comfortable sitting at the bottom of their alliance.

"I said well, that's fine but does that mean I'm next? The girls said, 'Well, we'll see'. In my head, I went, that's the wrong answer, isn't it?"

Meanwhile, the tribe was gathering the numbers to vote out Myles, whose intensity had rubbed people the wrong way. Spearheaded by the machete-wielding Kent, who had thrown Myles under the bus for burning Max's hat during the night.

While this was all a good distraction, it also was a problem for Indy who saw Kent and Myles as two of the most likely players who she could have aligned herself with.

"The night before Tribal I was laying next to the fire thinking of all the ways this was going to go," she explained. "I was thinking, if I stay what do I have to play with? And when I got to the end of that conversation with myself the answer was always next to nothing.

"If Myles was saved and the girls' alliance was exposed, I'd have built relationships and loyalty by making this move that was only dangerous for me."

Rather than bending the knee to the alliance to earn a few more days of safety, only to be thrown out when the women didn't need her as a number anymore, Indy decided to make a move of her own.

Approaching Rich and Max and telling them of the Coven's plan to blindside them -- and for Laura and Logan to betray their 'VB' alliance with Rich. But the move backfired when Rich immediately went to confront the group, uniting them all against one common ally: Indy.

"Karin came to me right before [Tribal Council] and said why did you do this when I brought you the girls' alliance? I said, you actually brought it to me at the 11th hour," Indy said.

"It was really hard to break into that group... with me leaving, the girls are outnumbered so, good luck moving forward," she continued.

"I'm not Survivor-stupid, I know you should always vote with the majority, so by that standard alone I did the wrong thing," Indy said. "To say it was a 'move' is probably not even accurate either because it was about surviving the next two votes.

"The way I figured it, I wasn't leaving it to fate... if I went home, it's better done now and I've controlled going home. I know what's happening and I'm not getting blindsided. That sounds stubborn as hell, but in my mind, it was about survival.

"The decision I made was absolutely deliberate."

For their first tribal council, things started off quite explosive, with Indy's deception revealed, she and Karin clashed over the alliance's plan to stay 'girls strong'.

"Tribal was a little more brutal than I'd have liked it to be but that's the game," she admitted. But Indy said she was also not surprised to see her name be pulled from the urn, making her the second player this season to have their torch snuffed.

Still, after watching the series for a decade, Indy said it was an absolutely surreal experience to actually be on the beach playing the game she loves.

"It's really hard to wrap your head around it and to realise that it's so real... the complaints of hunger and actually building your own bed, it smacks you in the face and you go, oh my god it really is as real as it looks!"

Australian Survivor Brains V Brawn II continues Monday - Tuesday at 7.30 pm and Sundays at 7pm on 10 and 10 Play.
