A mother-of-two was found dead inside her Swindon home, partially eaten by her two pet sausage dogs, after concerned neighbours alerted police after realising they hadn't seen her since Christmas.

Jemma Hart, 45, was found on January 29, 2024, after her neighbour noticed that her two dogs were barking incessantly and she did not answer the door.

"I tried the key she had given me but I couldn't unlock the door because there was a key on the inside of the lock," Lorraine explained.

This is when she called the police, asking them to do a welfare check. Her remains were found partially mauled by her two dogs, Millie and Frankie, who had been left without food following her death.

One of the dogs had died, while the other was found very distressed.

An inquest into her death and a post-mortem report by a toxicologist confirmed that Hart died by suicide.

Coroner Ian Singleton concluded: "Jemma lived alone with her two dogs in Swindon, and she was estranged from her family."

"Jemma was found in her home with injuries caused by dogs after she died. Her death has been recorded as suicide."

Jemma's son described his mother's love for her dogs during the inquest.

"She'd had dogs in the past, but in 2022, she got a dachshund called Frankie, and a year later, she got another one called Millie.

"Her house backed onto Lydiard Park where she regularly walked her dogs, and the dogs were her life."
