Verstappen's Hilarious Solution To Boring Monaco Grand Prix

Formula 1 star Max Verstappen said the mandatory two-pitstop rule at the Monaco Grand Prix didn't work, likening the race to "almost Mario Kart".

F1 has introduced a new rule requiring teams to use three different tyre compounds during the race, effectively mandating at least two pit stops.

Verstappen was waiting until the final lap to make his second stop in the hope a late red flag would give him the chance to win the race.

However, he finished where he started, in fourth place.

Speaking to Viaplay, Verstappen joked: "I really enjoyed it, it was really great!", he said ironically.

"I had nothing to lose, I had 50 seconds behind me. We could have done five, a bit of pit stop training for the team."

"But this is not what you want. It's incredibly boring", the Red Bull driver said.

"We were almost doing Mario Kart. Then we have to install bits on the car. Maybe you can throw bananas around. Yeah, I don't know. Slippery surface."

Verstappen heads to next weekend's Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona 25 points behind McLaren's Oscar Piastri.
