In a Q&A with People, alongside his wife Arlene Van Dyke, Dick opened up about the loss of Asner, who died in August 2021 at the age of 91.
The duo were in the process of doing a remake of the classic comedy The Odd Couple.
"That would've been such fun, and we lost it. I've lost a lot of friends," Dick said during the conversation at the Dick & Arlene Van Dyke Present Vandy Camp event in Malibu, Calif.
"He's outlived everybody," Arlene, 53, chimed in about her husband. "That's the curse of living to almost 100."
Arlene added that the Mary Poppins star is “still so positive” despite having lost so many beloved friends and former costars.
When asked what his secret was to remaining so positive, Dick said: "Well, life's been good to me. I can't complain.”
Dick also spoke about why he still loves going on stage at age 99 instead of retiring.
"I'm a ham," he says. "I love it. I get a jolt of energy from an audience."
Dick is set to turn 100 in December.
