U.S. Burger Giant Wendy’s To Open First Australian Store Tomorrow

Iconic US fast-food chain Wendy’s is set to open the doors of its first Australian store tomorrow on Cavill Avenue in Surfer’s Paradise.

The store will be operated by US-based Flynn Group, which bought the rights to Wendy’s in Australia in 2023, and says this is the “first of many” of Wendy’s restaurants opening Down Under.

The group has plans to roll out 200 stores across Australia by 2034.

The Aussie Wendy’s menu will feature U.S. favourites like the Classic Double, Baconator and Spicy Chicken Sandwich, as well as the double hand-breaded chicken tenders, a menu item exclusive to Aussie menus.

The chicken tenders were tested over and over again after feedback from Aussie diners, as the brand wanted to “specifically craft” them for the market.

Wendy's has also said that they will use 100 per cent Australian-sourced beef and chicken.

Aussies can also get their hands on the delicious Wendy’s Frosty dessert, and a side of hand cut fries, which can be loaded with cheese, chilli, or bacon.

E.J. Wunsch, the international president at The Wendy’s Company, said: “The opening of the first Wendy’s restaurant on Australia’s Gold Coast is an exciting milestone, showcasing the brand’s global relevance and proven ability to travel around the world,” E.J. Wunsch,

“With Flynn Group’s expertise and passion, we have crafted a restaurant experience that blends Wendy’s iconic square hamburgers and craveable chicken offerings with bold menu innovation crafted with Aussies in mind. This is the start of a journey to bring Wendy’s unique fresh, famous food to fans across Australia as we continue our expansion throughout the Asia Pacific region.”
